Take Frequent Breaks

Just like the following menu screen says, I have taken a short break from MC... unfortunately. After the recent update, the server I always logged on to was down. So I just need to wait till it's updated and working again.

New Desktop

For people that know me, you probably know I'm a huge Calvin and Hobbes fan. For a while I had a Calvin and Hobbes background but I have found something else that has taken over my heart... Minecraft!

I had to modify the image a bit to my liking, I think it came out pretty good.

Well, here's what I've been working on for the past few days.

Yup, I finally figured out how to create music on Minecraft.

I used a pretty simple pattern, the tough part was making it so that all the notes had to be within audible distance.

I'm thinking of doing something more sophisticated for my next project, this song was Yankee Doodle using only one instrument. I'm thinking of something with multiple instruments.

Home Sweet Home

Here's my very welcoming new home on the new server.

I had a bit of my back window blasted out because of a creeper, I did a quick patch and haven't really created more glass. Check out the water pillar in the background, there's a lava pillar too!

Some Changes

Recently, I was informed that a friend of on of my good friends has a server that he runs a lot more frequently. I decided to get on went to town on it. For the past few days I've been getting to know these guys and have been crafting tons of new monuments. I have recreated everything I've done in my previous server and have added so much more. It looks like I'll be making this new server more permanent. The reason I don't have any SSs is because the one time I decide to post about this server, it goes down. No worries, next time it's up, I will give a thorough walk-through. I might post the IP of this server later on as well, I just need to ask the admin for permission, don't want a bunch of griefers ruining the Trojan Squirrel or the giant Buddha. So now all I can do is wait.

Why am I up at this time? I closed for work last night and have to open today. I think my manager is mad at me... more hours for me!!! :P Well, gtg to work soon, there's like a foot of snow on the ground :(

It's a trap!

I wanted a bit more of a mid-evil feel so I put LAVA over the entrance.

It really works, I was able to kill a couple cows that were trying to siege my castle.

So much fun!!! :D

More Castle!

I decided to get creative again and made a cool water fountain.

Well, after a few days of working on this castle, I got the basics down, I'll reveal more as I go.

Exploration!

Decided to explore a bit more but I wanted to do it in style so I made a bridge that allows me to cross WATER!

Why not?

I was thinking to myself, "What am I going to do with this massive ditch in the ground?" After looking at it for a while, I decided to build a pyramid on top of it, check it out.

Circuits

I've seen tons of videos recently explaining how you can use redstone to basically "paint" a circuit. The way it works is very similar to circuit logic in the form of "gates". I'm not necessarily an expert in circuits but I am in a BS program for electrical engineering so I definitely understand how it works, after watching a few videos about redstone being used in Minecraft I decided to make my own displays. I started with something simple by having a switch that turns on a bunch of lights in a pattern.

That's before I flip the switch, this is after...

After fiddling with it for a while, I got the lights to blink, I'm going to try to add on to this and make a fancier display. If anyone wants to learn, I think I could explain it pretty well in detail.

Time? Plenty of it.

I saw this video where someone dug a massive hole and wanted to try the same, I ended up turning it into a pool and a waterfall. Check it out.

Exploring

I guess the 1st thing people do is explore for different ores so they can make stuff, what better way to do this than to dig a massive tunnel. I got pretty lucky today after digging this massive tunnel.

... until I hit bedrock and found a cave...

... an EPIC cave, I found everything I will ever need in this cave. To keep exploring, just let me know and I'll be sure to have the server running.

Just so people know, I back up my world every day so I don't really mind if someone griefs.

Introduction

Well, I just got this Minecraft game that I've heard so much about. I figured that I wanted to be creative and make my own stuff but I also want it to be available so I set up a server on my computer. Since it's on my computer, it wont be up 24/7 but thats ok, it allows me to moderate it when its up.

I took some screenshots of everything I've done so far but decided to post them over time.

That was after the 1st day. Here's inside.

It has a nice view of the ocean.
